In the process of producing hemp fiber, a large amount of bark is produced, which is a waste product from the point of view of textile production. The use of bark in various industries can offer good prospects. One of the possible options for such application could be energy utilization. The aim of the study is to investigate the thermal properties of hemp bark, its elemental composition and composition of ash formed during its combustion. As a result of the analysis it was found that the lowest heat of combustion per combustible mass is 4470 kcal/kg, ash content per dry mass is 2.34 %, which allows to consider hemp bark as a possible energy fuel, however, a high content of silicon and potassium in the ash of hemp bark was found, which indicates high polluting properties of hearth residues on convective heating surfaces.
