Epidemiology of low-energy fractures of the distal forearm among females of Tver

This article considers topical issues of the prevalence of low-energy fractures of the distal forearm among female population of Tver over the age of 30 on the results of these epidemiological retrospective study and analysis of activity of medical institutions providing specialized trauma care, for the year 2016. The injuries in question not only belong to the most common, but also are predictors of osteoporosis. According to the demographic indicators of the Tver region, associated with the predominance of the elderly and the female population, as well as the increase in life expectancy, we should expect an increase in the frequency of low-energy fractures. The results of the study can be useful both for practicing orthopedists, and heads of medical institutions for the planning of therapeutic and preventive activities in the fight against osteoporosis and its clinical manifestations.
