E.S. Markarian (1929-2011) - the founder of Armenian culturologial and traditionological school

In the 1960-1980s Eduard Markaryan developed guite influential culrurological trends in studying society as a universal adaptive-adapting system, human activities as a specific kind of information-led activities and culture as a universal non-biological mode (technology) as well as an extremely interesting trend in scholarly explanation of traditions. In the 1990s these scholarly trends were named by Russian specialists “the Armenian culturological and traditionological school”. Furthermore, in Russian academic circles E.S. Markaryan is recognized as a “founding father of Russian culturology”. His culturological research evoked great interest in the entire world and his works were published in English, German, Spanish, Arabic and other languages.
