The author examines the characteristics of ‘‘black hu¬mor'' as a worldview category presented in the Remarque's novel ‘‘All Quiet on the Western Front''. The main purpose of Remarque's polyvariative «black humor» is to protect the soldier's mind from destructive absurdity of the brutal war.
