Step-by-step treatment of obstructive jaundice caused by cholelithiasis

The purpose of the paper is to compare the results of traditional and step-by-step surgical treatment of obstructive jaundice caused by cholelithiasis. Materials and Methods. The authors analyzed the outcomes of 89 patients with cholelithiasis complicated by obstructive jaundice. All of them were the patients of City Clinical Hospital № 7 named afterE.L. Berezov, Nizhny Novgorod (2010-2016). The patients were divided into two groups. The patients of the first (control) group underwent laparotomy, cholecystectomy, choledocholithotomy and choledochoduodenostomy simultaneously (2010-2012). The patients of the second (primary) group were treated with minimally invasive techniques to eliminate the signs of obstructive jaundice: papillosphincterotomy with lithoextraction or ultrasound-guided cholangiostomy followed by papillosphincterotomy and lithoextraction (2013-2016).
