This article discusses the stages of working with the text in English language teaching. The author reveals the concept of reading, as well as its types that affect the work with the text. The stages of working with the text and the approximate types of exercises that can be used at different stages of reading are considered in detail. The English language currently occupies an important place in everyone's life, because the English language has an international status. And the ability to read contributes to the development of other communication skills that are necessary for mastering the English language.
