The article presents a retrospective analysis of the development of the market of functional food products in order to determine the stages of development of its life cycle for the formation of strategic priorities at the state, regional and organizational levels. The analysis allowed to identify the signs of the industry entering the stage of growth, which reflects the differentiation of the market for different categories of products, changes in consumer preferences, the emergence of new players in the market, the stimulation of innovation in the industry and the creation of the basis of legislative regulation.
