Ethnic metal jewelry from Republic of Khakassia in 2000-2010s

This study present the attempt to characterize a developing of female ethnic metal ornaments in Republic of Khakassia during the first decade of 21 century through the correlation with common develop tradition of metal art in Sayan-Altai region. Based on the authors field data this study highlights the issues of renewal and actualization of this craft from the position of the increased interest in historical and cultural heritage in Khakassia. We considered the history of Khakass jewelry throughout the 20 century, and concluded that this sphere had not been development to the turn of the century. Renewal of the crafts metal treatment in the first decade of the 21 century is carried out in the structures of higher education in the department of arts and crafts KSU and by enthusiasts-jewelers. Since 2000s to present time author observes the enduring interest in ethnic ornaments and their use in festal dress. Jewelers adapt traditional forms of metal ornaments for use in everyday costume, that evidenced by stable orders for production and the new specialized salon of the ethnic silver jewelry. Yakut silver ornaments and their creative rethinking in Khakassia style was a special event in the market of jewelry in ethnic style in Khakassia in the first decade of the 21 century. We can conclude that a new Khakass style of ethnic jewelry, created on the basis on the work of local jewelers, traditional jewelry and the influence of the more developed jewelry centers of Siberia at present time.
