Ethnic existence of Russia, multiculturalism, and “labyrinthes” of migration: the experience of social and philosophical research

The author notes that the present era showed the importance of ethnic existence in the human civilization development. Today, the ethnic existence holds itself out not as a traditional and conservative system, but as a living, organic entity, capable of transformation and permanent dynamics. According to the data of social and philosophical research, the development of modern society demonstrates more and more evidently a collision of global and regional, national and ethnic, integrated and fragmented, social and individual aspects. If the social system ignores the dynamism of ethnic passionarity, the accumulated energy is transformed into a destructive force, which destabilizes the society, crashes it, plunging into chaos. Cautioning against slavish imitation of western theory and practice of multiculturalism, the author insists that the principle of unity in diversity implies the formation of international idea, active search of common goal and shared values, not just a formal declaration of human rights and freedoms, the official support of local cultural differences and national / or ethnic minorities.
