General view on museum ethnographic collections of Karasuk district in Novosibirsk region

46 262 people live in the Karasuk district of Novosibirsk region according to the census of 2010th. Russians significantly predominance. At this moment, Ukrainians, Germans, Kazakhs presents the most significant ethnic communities in addition to Russians in this district. Museum local collections reflect the history and culture of multi-ethnic community. The first museum rooms of local history were organized in schools of Karasuk district in late 1960es. Museumification took course intensively in 1970-1980es. Presently there are 25 museums in its territory. Karasuk museum of local history is lead. Historical and ethnographic complexes are an integral part of it, and characterize the regional population and the process of its formation from the 18 century to the present. Included to the historical context of the district exploitation, the museum (Russian, Ukrainian, German) complexes permit to reconstruct the image of a unified multi-ethnic community in Karasuk district of Novosibirsk region. They are the basis of a wide popularization, exhibition and excursion activity. The total museum fund of Karasuk district is about 30,000 units in number. Some of this collections have historical and cultural significance in the regionally. The interest in ethnic tradition and reminiscence of ancestors becomes a significant social trend in Karasuk district of Novosibirsk region. Local museums have become socially significant educational and awareness centers since 1990es. They exist and develop as a unified system with the support of Karasuk museum of local history.
