The paper is devoted to the history of ideas of ethnographic museology in Komi and Udmurt peoples in the Finno-Ugric research context on the boundary of XIX - XX centuries. The authors analyze social and political conditions and material possibilities to the museums organization and personal motivations of enthusiasts of museum ethnography among the Komi and Udmurt intelligentsia.
