The ethnocultural specificity of the concept “old age” is considered. It is emphasized that the reflection of the concept, expressed in vocabulary, phraseological units, paremiological fund of the language, is an extensive basis for studying the features of linguoculture, and a comprehensive analysis of these data presupposes high research efficiency. It is noted that the relevance of studying the concept of “old age” is not only in the linguistic characteristics, but also in the educational aspect associated with the ethical and philosophical attitude to old age within a specific culture. Comparison of the data of this concept in Russian and English cultures made it possible to clarify the ethnocultural specifics: in particular, the British are more inclined to correlate old age with wisdom, intelligence, worry about the loss of attractiveness, inattention to the elders, while Russians are more restrained in this phenomenon. philosophically, they often compare “old and young”, treating old people with outward rudeness, perhaps more sincerely.
