The article is devoted to the problem of the ethno-cultural aspect in musical pedagogy. The relevance of the study is due to increased attention to the education of patriotism, citizenship in society, including the younger generation. An important role is played by the sphere of culture and art. Ethnic qualities are a structural component of the moral qualities of a person. Music pedagogy has a number of forms, methods and means of developing the ethnic qualities of a person. The basis of this process is national music. The purpose of this article is to study the ethnic aspect of musical pedagogy. Tasks: to study the literature on the topic of the study, to identify the features of the development of ethnic qualities on the example of teaching children to piano performance. The article concludes about the possibilities and significance of the repertoire, which are based on the work of composers of the national school, in the development of ethnic personality traits. Art in general and music in particular is an effective means of developing students' ethnic values. The modern system of education cannot do without the study of folk, national, ethnic. In this process, the role of folk music is very important. The implementation of the folk component is effectively carried out in the piano class.
