Evolution of аn economic role of the state and its reflection in economic theories

The article considers one of the most disputable problems current in economic literature, namely that of the economic role of the state, the scale and limits of the state influence on economy, as well as the correlation of the market and state regulation. The paper points out to a recent reconsideration of approaches to the role of the state in the contemporary economic system. An increasing influence of the state on economic processes is caused by those changes that occur in the world economy on par with those in national economies: technological, political ones, and others. These changes determine methods and means of economic policy influenced also by political and ideological factors. The article traces evolution of theoretical concepts of the state policy and the role of the state in economy at different stages of historical development. Analysis of this evolution has shown that the scale of the state impact on economy remains constant. Interrelation of the level of economic theory and the changes of the state economic policy has been revealed. The article also arguments necessity of a new model of state regulation enhancing conditions of sustainable economic growth and systemic modernization of Russian national economy.
