The article examines the issue of the evolution of an image of a migrant in the mass conscious-ness of Russians during the 2010s. The results of all-Russian polls of the leading sociological centers of Russia - Russian Public Opinion Research Center, “Levada Center”, Public Opinion Foundation are used as empirical ma-terial. The analysis showed that the attitude towards migrants has changed over the course of two decades of the 21st century, as a result, the image of a migrant has also changed. Its evolution proceeded from a relatively hostile attitude towards migrants in the early 2000s to a fairly loyal and positive in the 2010s. There is currently an ambiv-alent image of a migrant that combines positive and negative traits, the formation of which is influenced by everyday conflicts and their refraction in traditional media, social media, and in the assessments of opinion leaders.
