The evolution of the image of the witch in traditional and modern cultures

The article deals with the image of the witch in traditional and modern culture. The author highlights the main characteristics of the traditional image of the witch and the modern one. The images of witches in such works as «Harry Potter» by Joanna Roling, «Irka Khortytsya - Supermedia» by Ilona Volyn, Cyril Kashcheeva and in other works are analyzed. It is noted that the image of the witch in modern literature has undergone many changes compared to the concepts that existed in the XV-XVII centuries., and although witches still act as negative and as positive characters, there was a humanization of the image of witches, disappeared fear of them.
