The evolution of customary law of Caucasian peoples: development stages

The article is devoted to the topic important for both jurisprudence and other sciences, such as ethnology, anthropology and so on. The author discusses the two basic approaches to the legal systems periodization and their supporters, presents a periodization of the legal system development in Dagestan. On the basis of the anthropological method, the paper identifies several stages of the customary law development. In the framework of consistent analytical presentation the author describes the unique episodes of customary law of the North Caucasian peoples since the first known states until present.
