The article reveals the role and importance of tax administration in the implementation of state tax policy, principles, goals and objectives of tax administration in Russia. The article describes the elements of modern tax administration that implement the mission of the tax authorities. The authors revealed the actual methods of tax administration in Russia, characterized their advantages and disadvantages, considered the stages of formation of the system of tax administration in modern Russia.
