Evolution of donors and donation of blood and blood components in Kazakhstan

There were evaluated the dynamic of changes in the number of donations of blood and blood components in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Over the last three years, the number of donors increased by 9.9%, while the number of primary donors increased by 17.4% and the number of repeat donors - by 2.8%. The number of whole blood donations rose by 6.4%, and platelets - by 426.6%. In 2012, introduced apheresis of red blood cells. According global trends motivation of Kazakhstan donors is changing: the number of paid donations declined by 5.5%. On the contrary, the number of altruistic donations increased by 6.6%. Evolution of the donation of blood and blood components in Kazakhstan is due to: - increasing the volume and improving the technology of specialized medical care; - implementation of the national program for the development of blood services; - socio-economic progress and expansion of altruistic motivation of donors.
