The latest data from archaeological excavations show various forms of crafts, which existed both in rural and urban Russia in the 11th to the early 13th centuries. The craftspeople of Veliky Novgorod and the Northeastern Russia reveal the original form of Art; the exchange of techniques among artisans leads to the mutual enrichment and the improvement in skills of jewelers and blacksmiths. Specifically, the artists use their own national skills as well as the knowledge gained from their Byzantine colleagues.
