К атрибуции автографов художников в Софии Новгородской

В статье обосновывается новый взгляд на соотношение надписей – граффити и дипинти, оставленных на стенах новгородского Софийского собора расписывавшими его художниками. Анализ надписей с учетом их расположения в соборе и взаимных связей между текстами приводит к выводу, что надписи четырех мастеров – Георгия-Гаги, Дамиана-Домаслава, Иоанна-Сежира и Стефана – были сделаны в ходе росписи собора в 1109 г. Сделаны предположения о мотивах, которыми могли руководствоваться художники, оставляя свои автографы в парусах малого северо-западного купола собора. Обосновывается новгородское происхождение мастеров и их связь с княжеским окружением.

The Attribution of Painters’ Autographs in the Cathedral of Saint Sophia in Novgorod
The paper substantiates reconceptualization of the correlation between graffiti and dipinti made on the walls of the Cathedral of Saint Sophia in Novgorod by painters who decorated it. It can be inferred from the analysis of the inscriptions based on their location in the cathedral and linkage between the texts that the inscriptions were made by four painters – Georgy-Gaga, Damian-Domaslav, Ioannes-Sezhir and Stephan – during the decoration of the cathedral in 1109. The motifs that the painters relied on when they made their autographs in the pendentives of the small northwestern dome of the cathedral have been reconstructed. The paper also argues that the painters were from Novgorod and that they were linked to the prince’s entourage.
