The biography of bishop Gavriil Buzhinskiy — a preacher and translator of the first third of the 18th century

The present article, which is based on archival and little known published sources, is a first experience of the scientific biography of Gavriil Buzhinsky — Bishop of Ryazan, outstanding preacher and translator of the first third of the 18th century. Particular attention is paid to Bishop Gavriil’s activities in the position of chief hieromonk of the Russian Navy and member of the Holy Synod. The article provides new information about sermons, church services, and other works composed by him.
