The goal of the paper is to introduce into scientific use previously unknown material associated with biography of the founder of the monastic Peter dynasty (in monasticism Habakkuk) Druzhinin. The starting point in searching for information about him was the discovery of gravestone slab with his name in 2008 in the shrine church in the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov (St. John-Vvedensky Nunnery). In the paper the tombstone is discussed in several ways. First, the morphology and iconography of the monument with a rare variant of Calvary image is analyzed. Second, the gravestone slab is an original source of information. This is so due to the fact that earlier archaeology was not able to identify gravestones monuments belonging to the monks in Tobolsk and its surroundings. Church epitaph on the monument is also quite interesting for further study, including its philological aspect. Any analogues of such inscriptions on gravestones plates have not been found. In addition, the gravestone serves as a specific source of biographical information about the person. For a critical review of the data biographical information was used related Avvakum Druzhinin’s daughters, because that is the only link pointing to his shadowy. To verify our analysis, a large amount of historical data from the archive funds in Tobolsk was used. The analysis of a number of sources has made the author identify very important, previously unknown facts of his biography which should be attributed to the other members of his family. Thuswise the exact place of his birth has been found out, which does not correlate to the data published in the famous work of archpriest Grammatin. The information about his date of birth discovered in the register for the 1823 refutes that which is calculated on the basis of the inscriptions on the gravestones. It should be renewed for three years earlier. The confirmed date of his death is to be December 31, 1892. In this point, the archival sources agree the date on the slab.
