The paper reviews an episode from the history of Medieval Russia architecture related to construction with the use of ceramic materials (plinth) in Yaroslavl in the early 13th century. The main focus of the paper is review of specific traits of Yaroslavl brick fabrication, it also touches upon issues of evolution of construction technology applied in two Yaroslavl buildings.
