In the scientific heritage of Archpriest Georgy V. Florovsky (1893-1979), the monograph “Ways of Russian Theology” occupies a central place: in it, the thinker put forward and substantiated the concept of “pseudomorphosis of Orthodoxy” as a result of a series of waves of Western theological and philosophical influence on Russian spiritual culture, and also formulated the intellectual program of neopatristic synthesis as a methodological task of modern Orthodox thought. The publication in 1937 of this book, which gave a critical assessment to most representatives of Russian religious and philosophical thought of the past, caused a wide resonance and mixed assessments from public circles of Russian Western European diaspora, which ultimately served as one of the reasons for Florovsky's departure to the USA, where in the 1960s he is hatching the idea of a new, significantly revised edition of “Ways of Russian Theology.” This project remained unfulfilled, however, the author's concept of a new version of the monograph is reconstructed in Florovsky's personal correspondence with his confidants, and above all with his brother Anthony, who worked as a Slavic historian in Czechoslovakia. The thesis is substantiated that the letter from G. V. Florovsky to his brother dated January 25, 1968 is one of the key texts in their correspondence, shedding light on the concept of the new edition of “Ways of Russian Theology.” A scientific publication of this letter, located in the Anthony V. Florovsky Fund in the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is proposed.
