Concerning the history of the Mongolian lexicography (the source of the Buryat lexicography)

The article is devoted to the brief review of the history of formation and development of the Mongolian lexicography, from which at the beginning of the XX century the Buryat lexicography branched off. This work presents the historical-chronological periodization based on investigations of Mongolian and Chinese scholars. The evolution of form and contents, as well as functions of mongolian dictionaries is given consideration to.
