On the history of the manuscript department (Center for oriental manuscripts and xylographs of the Institute for Mongolian, Buddhist and Tibetan Studies, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences)

The article examines the history of the formation of the Manuscript Department (now - the Center of Oriental Manuscripts and Xylographs) in the Buryat-Mongolian Scientific Committee from the period of its formation in 1922. In 1929 the Committee was reorganized into the Buryat-Mongolian Institute of Culture. The article is based on archival materials, publications of administrative documents, minutes of conferences, meetings and reports of the Scientific Committee. Along with changes and reorganizations of the Scientific Committee, the Manuscript Department went a long way until its transformation into the modern Institute for Mongolian, Buddhist and Tibetan Studies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
