On ecology of the imperial eagle Aquila heliaca (Falconiformes, Aves) in the Cenral Caucasus

Among rare species of birds of prey in the Central Caucasus, the imperial eagle deserves special attention, being included in the Red Data Book of Russian Federation (the species of reduced numbers), Red Data Book of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic (the rare species having limited disturbance), and in the Appendix 1 of the CITES Convention. The original parameters of nesting biology and species ecology have been revealed through researches on the state of the imperial eagles populations; relying on which a preliminary conclusion on stability and favorable existence of the imperial eagles populations in the Central Caucasus.
