The paper describes methods employed during comprehensive fieldarchaeological research in the conditions of high mountains in Uzundara, which isa Bactrian fortress of the 4th-2nd centuries BC. The research methods include non-invasivescanning of the sites (geo-radar studies); unearthing of the walls on the external andinternal faces, keeping the turf on the upper rib intact; replenishment of the turf on thewall sections where it was not preserved; reinforcement of the inclined walls by erecting‘patch’ side walls; reconstruction of poorly preserved walls by retrofitting the masonrywith the use of the dry method; tablet-based recording of surface finds.
