To the problems of the concept “sports extremism”

The article discusses the main approaches to the definition of the concept of “sports extremism”. The main method of research was the analysis of regulatory legal, program-strategic documents and scientific literature. Two predominant variants of understanding of the term “sports extremism” have been identified, differing in the subject of extremist actions. In the first of them, sports extremism is understood as a type of extremist activity of athletes, in the second – as a type of extremist activity of fans. The advantages and disadvantages of each approach are considered. The conclusion is made about the need for a clear definition of the concepts of “extremism” and “sports extremism” in regulatory legal documents.
