The article deals with the specificity of activation of self-activity of students in the conditions of the educational process of higher educational institutions. The relevance of the study due to the current state of the modern educational process in high school, where the vast majority of self-educational activity of students have lost the meaning, and vocational training for them is seen in isolation from the modern realities. There is an increasing formalization of educational values and as a result the complete extinction, and sometimes rejection of active self-educational activity. The author carries out a theoretical analysis of the concept and the process of self-activating activity of students, identify their essential and substantial part. This analysis contributes to the development and implementation of new cutting-edge, efficient and the most promising methods, aimed at developing the student's personality, raising his self-education activity in accordance with his personal needs and requirements of the modern social order of society.
