On the problem of literary reception: Goethe's ideas and images in O. E. Mandelstam's artistic consiousness

The article is devoted to analysis of influence of J. W. Goethe on the world outlook and works of O. E. Mandelstam. Three periods of Goethe's influence on Mandelstam are isolated, and the mode of this influence on Mandelstam's artistic consciousness and works is shown. Reception of Goethe is traced not only in lyrical works but also in prose of Mandelstam in the 1920-30.
