The article discusses the results of a research of social and communicative competence of teenagers with compensated mental retardation. As a model situation the author examines solution of a problem of preliminary vocational self-determination by those teenagers. There set forth a number of special features of cognitive-representational and value-semantic aspects of social and communicative competence of that category of juveniles (in comparison with normatively developing juveniles of the same age).
