To the question on the relation between cultural memory and historical memory

The article considers the phenomenon of memory as one of the most important objects of culturological research in the XXth century. With reference to the experience of the past, the connection between the phenomena of «history» and «culture» is revealed. The authors analyze the relatively new concepts of «cultural memory» and «historical memory» in comparison with the traditional terms «collective memory» and «social memory» It is concluded that memory as an experience of the past has both a historical and a «cultural» side, which is especially important in the context of modern interdisciplinary synthesis of sciences.
