Concerning "mighty works" and "arcane arts" study in Dagestan in the context of consideration of Muhammad al-Quduqi's life and works

The article presents previously unpublished biographical information about the life and works of the Dagestan theologian of the late XVII - early XVIII century -Muhammad al-Quduqi. The authors describe examples of his supernatural wonders (karamat) that have come down to us in oral and written forms, as well as his interest to the arcane arts study. The paper discusses theoretic views of theologians about the nature of karamat and reviews some data about the arcane arts study in Dagestan. The research was prepared on the basis of studying a wide range of multilingual written sources and literature.
