On the issue of digitalization of criminal proceedings in France

The article examines the issue of changes in working methods in the field of digitalization of the activities of police and gendarmerie officers performing the functions of the criminal police in France. Examples of the use of digital tools in practice and an assessment of their effectiveness are presented. The shift from written work in police investigations to digital records promises to improve the efficiency of investigations. However, these changes also carry risks inherent in digital technologies, and especially the risks associated with mass recording of data, which, according to some, may lead to unwarranted surveillance of the private lives of citizens.
