The author actualizes the question about the origins of the pre-Christian Judaism of the Apostle Paul. It is assumed that our knowledge of Saul the Jew is a precondition of understanding Paul the Christian. Relying, in particular, on the material of Jewish apocalyptic of the Second temple period (4 Ezra and 2 Baruch), the author on the example of the concepts of “two ages” and “Messianic age” draws a conclusion about a possible continuity between the authors of the aforesaid apocalypses and the Apostle Paul in terms of school and particular tradition. Significant differences are also marked, the most important of which is the Apostle’s Christological reinterpretation of the apocalyptic theological heritage
