The article is devoted to the problem of professional readiness of teachers of general education to work on the socialization of children with intellectual disabilities. Features of socialization of mentally retarded children and the role of teachers in this process are considered. The main aspects of the problem of socialization of children of this category in conditions of inclusive education are determined. The results of the study which testify to the insufficient readiness of teachers of general educational institutions to work with children with intellectual disabilities are presented.
