On the question of introspective formation of beliefs

Traditionally, introspection is defined as a way of obtaining beliefs about emerging mental states, so it is believed that it is psychologically and epistemically different from non-introspective processes of forming beliefs. At the same time, philosophers and cognitive scientists point out the unreliability of introspective reports in consciousness research. In this article, this dissonance is explained by the distinction between unmistakable and informative introspective beliefs.
