The article considers communicative professionally conditioned situations as an optimal variant of organizing a process of students' foreign language competency in teaching a foreign language for special purposes at a non-linguistic institution. The authors analyze the concept of communicative situation and present stages in its modeling by the example of themes related to the specific character of the professional communication of future police officers of drug control units.
