On the issue of medical criteria of insanity in criminal law

The state of the human psyche has a huge impact on criminal responsibility and punishment. The criminal-legal assessment of the mental state is based, among other things, on scienti c data from such sciences as psychiatry and psychology. In criminal law and science, it is unequivocally true that insanity is one of the completely unexplored and largely debatable problems. To solve this problem, awareness and understanding of both aspects of criminal law and forensic psychiatry are necessary, since insanity is one of the complex problems and a ects several sciences at once. The presented article is devoted to the study of the problems of quali cation of medical criteria of insanity in criminal law.
