The upheavals of recent years reflect a new norm of greater global turbulence caused by domestic and international political fragmentation. Many indicators indicate an increase in economic uncertainty, but it is the news that most quickly reflects this trend. The index, based on media archives, predicts crises and allows for the most accurate calculation of their consequences for the economy. The article is devoted to the issues of the news index of economic policy uncertainty, in particular, the need for its modification for Russia.
