The article analyzes the data from various sources on the emergence of the first iron items among the Kolyma Yukagirs, including the facts about the Yukagirs of the Yana, Indigirka and Anadyr rivers. The chronological scope of the study covers the period from the end of the XVIth to the end of the XIXth century. New materials and technologies of manufacturing iron items came from the Yakuts, Russians, and possibly the Tungus. In the middle of the XVIIIth century the most eastern Yukagir groups of the Anadyr River already knew blacksmithing, the Reindeer Chukchi mastered blacksmithing later.
