On the concept of personal mobility devices

The article provides an analysis of the features of vehicles classified as means of individual mobility. The named groups of personal mobility aids are indicated. The problems arising from their classification, proposed by the legislator, are analysed. The analysis of the nomenclature of modern vehicles manufactured under the trade name Segway is carried out. The peculiarities of a number of vehicles produced under the trade Segway, which do not allow their use in accordance with the requirements of the Road Traffic Rules of the Russian Federation as means of individual mobility, have been revealed. Based on the analysis of these problems, the ways to solve them are indicated, as well as the signs required for the classification of individual mobility aids are systematised. Definitions of certain types of personal mobility devices based on design and operational features that best meet the current requirements of the Road Traffic Rules of the Russian Federation are proposed.
