One of the problems in the field of fire safety is considered in the article on the example of an emergency leak of oil and petroleum products accompanied by fires and explosions, analyzes the causes of fires and their consequences is analysed, ways to ensure fire safety and minimize the consequences of accidents at oil industry facilities is identified.
