On the Issue of the Continuity of the Educational and Scientific Models of Pre-Revolutionary Theological Schools at Leningrad Theological Academy and Seminary (Second Half of the 1940s)

The article examines the educational process, i. e. the list of disciplines studied, the composition of the teaching corporation, the structure of the academic year and vacations of pre-Revolutionary theological schools and the Leningrad Theological Academy and Seminary, as well as certain aspects of research work — the publication activity of teachers and their participation in conferences. It is concluded that: 1) the continuity of pre-Revolutionary educational and scientific models is possible thanks to teachers and graduates of pre-Revolutionary academies and seminaries; 2) in the Leningrad theological schools, continuity is maintained with respect to the main list of disciplines of theological education; 3) there is practically no continuity regarding the publication activity of teachers and their participation in conferences. It is suggested that the return to pre-Revolutionary models is explained not so much by the reluctance to create a new system as by the implementation of an old, tested model, psychologically more comfortable for the teachers of that time.
