The article discusses the implementation of artificial intelligence in various identification systems in the investigation and disclosure of crimes. For this, the current state and problems of modernization of fingerprint records are studied, the state and prospects of development of the automated fingerprint information system (AFIS) “Papilon” are considered. The issues of face recognition by photographic image and video surveillance systems, as well as the possibilities and problematic issues of the “Safe City” hardware and software complex (AIC) are touched upon. The prospect of using artificial intelligence in the fight against crime using instrument odor analyzers is discussed. Sources of evidence and search information of biological origin are considered, which, together with the capabilities of artificial intelligence, will increase the effectiveness of their use.
