On the issue of recognising culture as an object of the crime of genocide in international law

The article considers culture as a hypothetical object of the crime of genocide. The author looks back through the history of creation of the "Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide" by referring to travaux préparatoires, and points out the offers to expand the scope of the objects under consideration. The paper analyses the opinions of researchers and discusses the judicial practice of the International Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia. Respective conclusions are made.
