The article examines problematic aspects in the field of countering drug trafficking, which are of great practical importance for law enforcement agencies. It is concluded that the optimization of the provisions of the criminal procedure legislation and the creation of effective tools for improving the operational search activity will contribute not only to the increase in the detection of crimes of this category, but also to a significant decrease in the frequency of appeals against the actions of employees. This, in turn, in the conditions of the existing personnel shortage, will allow avoiding a significant load assigned to operational employees associated with participation in court proceedings.
