On the issue of the tribal structure of Mongolian society in the 16th - 17th centuries

The article discusses the general principles of the organization of the medieval Mongolian society and analyzes various points of view on the main elements of its social organization - clan and tribe. The author concludes that, despite the importance of political changes and transformations, ethnic processes that reshaped the map of the settlement of Mongolian tribes, the tribal structure remained the basis of the social and political organization of society.
